19 years after the last part of the series, the fourth part “Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” was just released in cinema.
In this movie Indy has to battle well known enemies, for example the Russian and their secret service KGB. The agents of the KGB want to take a clouded-in-secrecy box from the Americans which they only can find with the help of Indiana Jones. Needless to say, he tries to prevent this and while doing it, he discloses the secrets of this box step-by-step.
The protagonist of the film is for sure played by Harrison Ford - who is meanwhile 65 ages old – and still delivers an impressive accomplishment. He gets supported by Cate Blanchett (Irina Spalko), Ray Winston (“Mac”) and Shia LaBeouf (Henry Williams). Personally I think, the movie was well-acted and the protagonists filled their roles perfectly.
Regarding the setting of the movie, the work was done well, too. The cities and jungles look very nice and carry much ambience to the viewer. The background music is even felicitous and the sound directors put the adequate sound-snippets under the right sequences.
All in all, the movie is well-done and nice to watch but does not get into the highest rankings. For this spheres the typical Indy-flair is a bit missing and the storyline entwined around the aliens is easy to foresee and does not fit into the “normal” universe of Indiana Jones. Anyhow, this film should be at least once seen by all fans.
