William Thacker is very surprised when he faces the famous actress Anna Scott in his bookshop. First, that does not make him think, but when he meets Anna the next time, she spontaneously kisses him and leaves thereupon. More meetings follow; they like each other, but don’t know if the other means business.
You somehow feel it “crackle” between Anna (Julia Roberts) and William (Hugh Grant). The two actors convey the feelings of the “torn-ness” very well. Hugh Grant embodies the clumsy William in an excellent way. The crazy minor characters are also presented very well.
Hollywood mass-produces “millionaire meets ordinary citizen”-comedies, but this film manages it to create audience empathy for the characters. Offering some funny scenes and pure romance, it stands out in the crowd of those romantic movies.
For romance-lovers “Notting Hill” is an absolute must, but even if you’re not one, you won’t be disappointed after having seen it.

I think you probably should put the name of the movie somewhere, so that people who are not already fans of Notting Hill can figure out what you are talking about without having to look it up on imdb….
