On his 11th birthday, Harry Potter comes to know that he is a wizard and is now allowed to got to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Now an all new life begins for the shy boy. In Hogwarts he lives in a completely different world, learns how to use magic and meets his first friends, Ron and Hermione. Together with them, he tries to avert that one of the teachers steals the “Philosopher’s Stone” to restore immortality to the most dangerous wizard of all times – “Voldemort”. To reach his goal, Harry has to face lots of dangers and challenges.
The film fairly sticks with the novel of Joanne K. Rowling; the countless inventive ideas and also the humour are presented well.
The performances of the young actors Radcliffe, Watson and Grint – they are quite cute in this first part – impress the viewer; the other characters are staffed very well, too, the actors can convince. Also the settings and costumes are well chosen. The movie manages it to put you under the spell of the world created by Rowling – everyone should watch this film at least one time.
